I’ve given the most meaningful election in the history of the United States a week to simmer and I have decided on one thing. The magnitude, one way or the other, can only be shown over time. America spoke up and put racism one, much larger, step in the rear view. But to those that think that this is a guaranteed move in the right direction…stop and think of all the scenarios that can come out of this election. I’m not talking about getting attacked by some country that has half a brain thinking that Obama won’t be able to respond to aggression, but much, much, broader than that.

What a fantastic college weekend we just had. Texas Tech and Texas put on a show that had to ahve sucked in any person that enjoys the game of football, whether they follow college games or not. My Hokies didn’t lose. (we didn’t play either but that is a moot point) And everyone in college football should have learned a lesson. What lesson is that?
Learn to see past your own nose!
Mark Richt hopefully learned that lesson after he felt what I think is the first phase of his “payback” for doing one of the most classless moves I’ve ever seen in any sport. It ranks right up there with that basketball player that shot at his own goal and got the rebound to pad his stats while blowing out another team. (I don’t remember who it was which shows how important said payer was)

Game five of the World Series was just bizarre. The fact that Philadelphia won will, I imagine, be the sub-plot to this series. Rain will forever overshadow the event. How can it not? In the rain Tampa was somehow building momentum and getting into a groove that most people thought had been used up in the ALCS. The heart of their order remembered that putting the bat on the ball was a good thing. They started to catch breaks that they weren’t getting in the previous four games, even in their win.

So we played Florida State University today and it was an interesting game. Now that both of our Quarterbacks are broken it should make a very interesting rest of the season. Let’s see how we do with our third string Quarterback for a few games. My problem with taking the redshirt off Taylor was exactly this. What if he gets injured? What if having a lack of experience around him crushes him and sends him into a spiral of bad play? What if instead of making him the next Michael Vick we make him the next Maurice DeShazo?(though poor DeShazo always got a bad rap)

I’ve gotten into a few little chats in various places with VT grads that are really getting frustrated with how the team is doing this season. Let me clear things up for everyone. WE ARE REBUILDING! There was no chance whether Glennon or Taylor played this year we were not going to be good. The fact that we were ranked so high simply shows how moronic the sports college media is in general. Yes the QB is the most important position on the field, yes Taylor got some really good experience last year, but we lost every major receiver on the team, a load of defensive linemen and any number of other positions. If the most important player on the field is surrounded by players that are going to get the “deer-in-the-headlights” looks multiple times during the season the QB effect doesn’t matter.
