And the wheel in the sky keeps on turning

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

As Journey said in their classic rock anthem the parts keep moving and the pieces keep falling into place for the Virginia Tech Hokies! The Wake Forrest Demon Deacons beat Duke last night to not only unseat a recently ranked #1 team (I mean who really cares about that?) but also allow there to be a three way tie for first place in the ACC. Arguably the most powerful conference in the country. Let’s say that again…the Hokies of Virginia Polytechnic and State University are sitting atop one of the most powerful basketball conferences in the country.

Somebody pinch me.

We’ll see if it is all for naught tonight when the Hokies play the Clemson Tigers who are renowned for late season swoons. If they fall to us we actually will take first place outright by half a game!!!!! Oh the humanity of it all!

We’re moving on UP!

Virginia Tech Basketball, it's a winning event to watch as of late!Ok so this very well might be shorter lived than us taking third but the Hokies are #2 in the ACC my friends! Be prepared for the apocalypse to come! hehehe.. Fear us! We somehow managed to squeak by Miami yesterday and it was a much tighter game throughout than the Wake game. We definitely had a little bit of a let down but managed to be just good enough to beat the Hurricanes on their home court! WOO HOO! Let’s go HOKIES!

A night filled with Three’s

My Hokies did it baby! Beat the number one team in the country (Wake Forrest) by playing typical Hokie basketball. Anyone that is under the impression that Virginia Tech Basketball is filled with stars and premier recruits is crazy and knows nothing about Hokie Basketball! Our team beat the #1 team in the land by working their tails off up and down the court and making a ridiculous amount of baskets. Though making baskets was not how we won. One of the things that is truly great about my team is the amount of hustle they put into a game. We’ve lost five games, and with the exception of the Duke game, we lost all five by a total of under 10 points. We work hard and we play tenacious defense. Wake Forrest couldn’t buy a basket without having to plow through a trench of Hokie D! (more…)

Hokie High!

Well my Hokies somehow managed to win the Orange bowl with one of the worst offenses I’ve seen in a long time. I somehow managed to stay awake for it all despite a horrible, horrible head cold. Something about listening to a television that’s 5 feet away from you and it sounding like it’s across town that makes football far more interesting. Too many times did I say “What did he say?”

Hokies part of ACC title game!

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I’d like to say I was more excited but I just can’t do it. the ACC title game, featuring Boston College Eagles and my Virginia Tech Hokies, is really just the game to see who gets crushed in the better bowl game. I know it seems pessimistic and all but we have been growing and rebuilding this season. I’m very impressed and proud of our record but we have looked young in almost every game this season. BC has been a little better but not much. If I had to hand pick a team out of the ACC I would actal pick Georgia Tech to represent the ACC in a bowl. They have proven the most by beating some better out of conference teams. So, I’m getting together with a BC friend next weekend and we will suffer through the title game. Should be interesting.

On a positive note we beat the Virginia Cavalosers!!!! Which is always nice but it was made especially nice this year because we deprived them of being Bowl eligible! Woo HOO! or I guess I should say WA HOO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…good times!
